Paula McDevitt, CPRP (Certified Parks and Recreation Professional), Director, Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department
Paula has worked for the nationally accredited and award winning City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department for thirty years. Paula has been the Director of the department for the past 2 ½ years after fifteen years as the department’s Recreation Services Division Director.
Before moving into administrative positions Paula worked in various other program areas within the department’s Recreation Division: Teen Program Coordinator, Community School/Teen Program Director, Program Supervisor – Older Americans Center, and Adult/Family Services Manager.
Prior to working for the City of Bloomington, Paula worked for the Rochester YMCA in Rochester, Michigan as a Program Director. Paula is a graduate of Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music.
Paula serves as a member of the IU School of Public Health Advisory Board and is a member of the IU’s Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies National Advisory Committee. Paula has presented at the National Parks and Recreation Association Annual Conference and the Indiana Parks and Recreation Association conferences on the topics of coalition building, recreation programming and health benefits of parks and recreation.
