What if I told you that deep in the woods of Bloomington’s neighbor, Greene County, sits a site that is respected and known across the globe in the art world? I didn’t know about it either, until recently. And now I must tell everyone! Since 2002, thousands of people have come to enjoy the Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, with hundreds of artists from all over the globe participating in an annual event that’s become known as the best cast sculpture workshop in the world. Gerry Masse, Executive Director of the Sculpture Trails, spent his life enjoying his family’s property so when it came time to find a home for his own large scale sculpture work, it only seemed right to place them on the trails his mother walked. Fast forward 16 years and the Sculpture Trail Outdoor Museum now have approximately 3 miles of manicured walking trails, an artist in residence program and a cast iron foundry that turns molten iron into works of art! Learn all about what to expect, how to book a “Tour & Pour” with current artist in residence, Paul Watson, and everything else you need to know about visiting this world renowned Southern Indiana landmark!
In our Facebook Follow segment we want you to make a day of it in Greene County. Check out Yoho’s General Store just a few miles from the Sculpture Trail.
