Cue the Wayne’s World Flashback sounds and hand motions (if you’re too young to know what I’m talking about, please go watch Wayne’s World now. We’ll wait.) Long time Bloomington residents might recall the days of “J&B on the Rox”, a community access show on local station BCAT (now CATS) that gained hosts J & B notoriety on a national level with Wired magazine calling it “the best TV show in America.” (If you’re too young to have watched “J & B on the Rox” the first time around, go find episodes now to watch. We’ll wait.) Lucky for our guest, Michael White, CATS station manager, those days are long gone and the regular task of defending J & B’s antics as free speech now just makes for a great story. So how did CATS come to be what it is today and what role does it play in the community? Join us as we hear about the history, the not so distant past and the future of Community Access Television Services in Bloomington. Not only does CATS provide news from over 60 countries in the world, it also provides local content, recording over 350 community events per year. And best of all, members of the community are encouraged to submit their own productions for broadcast on CATS! Are you the next J & B?
Then, we throw back to our visit with our Friendly Neighborhood Librarians who visited us on Episode 20. Still amazed by all the things you can check out at the library that go way beyond books, this is a tremendous community resource not to miss. And in our REAL-List segment, Deb explains how home value is defined and why Zillow can never be right. Ever.
