Episode 13: The Warehouse

How big is 5 acres? A football field is only 1.32 acres. A typical city block is 2.5 acres. Five acres is 217,800 square feet. If a typical house is 2500 square feet, then 5 acres is over 87 houses. Blown away by my mad math skilz? Be even more blown away by today’s guest. What used to be a 5 acre RCA storage facility building that sat empty for 20 years, now provides a safe place to play for the whole community. Welcome to The Warehouse! This enormous building, adjacent to Switchyard Park, houses a sports complex and offers access to the largest indoor BMX and skateboard park in the Midwest, art classes for all ages and plenty of play space. Best of all- it’s completely free! You’ve probably been inside for the Bloomington Home Show, or a craft/art show. But there’s a lot more going on at The Warehouse.
