We chat with local trivia host and founder of Mid by Midwest Productions, Josh Johnson, about Bloomington’s pub quiz scene and how to find a seat (literally and figuratively) among the regular crowd of pub quizzers. We also discover that Josh hosts interactive murder mysteries and MidWay Music Festival, an event that celebrates and connects women in music via promotion, empowerment, and performance opportunities.

Mid By Midwest Productions, focuses on creative entertainment solutions for local businesses, venues, and private events. MxMW books and promotes events such as the yearly Bloomington Battle Of The Bands Tournament at the Bluebird, writes and hosts pub trivia for multiple local venues, and creates live interactive murder mysteries for public events, private parties, and fundraisers. Moving to Bloomington to attend Indiana University, MxMW’s founder Josh Johnson is an alumnus of the Communication and Culture department. For over a decade, he was a talent buyer, venue manager, and booker for many local establishments including, Uncle Festers, Second Story, Jake’s Nightclub, The Root Cellar, and more. Josh serves as the treasurer of MidWay Music Festival, the vice president of Mt Salem Cemetery Protection Society, and as a board member of the Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington.
