If you’ve lived in Bloomington long enough, chances are you’ve heard of Jill’s House. But do you know about what is going on there? A new concept encouraging two groups to learn from each other and share their spirits. Can’t go wrong with that, right? What started as a place for families to stay during cancer treatment at IU Health Proton Therapy Center, now serves both young and old through their Assisted Living & Memory Care and Intergenerational Preschool. Partnering these two services brings generations together to foster tolerance, acceptance, empathy and a love for learning. Did you know Jill’s House Bloomington was 1 of 5 communities in the US featured in the PBS documentary Revolutionizing Dementia Care and Bloomington has been named a Dementia Friendly City? Neither did we! Join us as we learn all about the daily life of a resident with Heather Kinderthain, Community Relations Coordinator for Jill’s House.
In our Facebook Follow segment, follow Wonderlab! Guests of Episode 21 of At Home in Bloomington, Wonderlab provides tons of intergenerational opportunities to learn, laugh and explore!
